(२१) अहिंसासूनृतास्तेयब्रह्मचर्यापरिग्रहाः ।
एते पञ्च यमाः सन्तः सार्वभौमा महाब्रतम् ॥

* અહિંસા, સત્ય, અસ્તેય, બ્રહ્મચય અને અપરિગ્રહ એ પાંચ યમે। સાભૌમ બનતાં મહાવ્રત કહેવાય છે.

* Non-injury, uuthfulness, refraining from stealing, celibacy and renouncement of property, especially, greed of it-these five are called Yamas.x When these Yamas are not delimited by the exigences of time and place etc., they constitute the great vows (4) applicable in all places and at all times (). 21
