• Desires not being fulfilled, a person grieves or laments, and gets angry with those who are not favourable or are averse to him. 13 . But if he ponders over his ill-luck, he would not be melancholy and would be able to hold his mental quietude. 14 • It is proper for a man to be diligent to gain more if it is necessary, but he should also learn to be satisfied in his present condition of poverty and should never do such an action as hurls him down 15 * And in order to improve one's fate it is nece. ssary for one to be devoted in pious acts and to adhere to the auspicious jine of virtue in this way good-witted persons are able to obtain a good fortune 16
