The second half contains a vivid and realistic simile. Cr. st. 109, 182. सुरसुर (onomatopoeic root),to glide, to slip away. 77) संवलिय = संवलित = mixed, interspersed. रिछोली = पङक्ति line, row, swarm कंठिया = कण्ठिका necklace. Compare st. 611 and Sisupālavadha, 6.53. 78) दुग्गच्च = दौर्गत्यम् = poverty. आसंघिय == आशंसित = संभावित or अपेक्षित = desired. See st. 389 and H. 4, 35. विमुह -- विमुख = one who has failed to get ( the desired object). Compare st. 669 and मच्छकटिक 1, 12. 79) खंधग्गि = स्कन्धाग्नि =- fire made by burning logs of wood. नडिज्जइ = बाध्यते, पीड्यते = is tormented. साणुसअ = सानुशय = angry, resentful. In a city a wayfarer cannot easily have either fire from logs of wood or a warm bed or quilt of grass. 80) पहोलणा = प्रघूर्णना = shaking. For पहोल := घूर्ण see H. 4. 177. अलय = अलक = (dangling) tresses, locks of hair. आउलियं = आकुलितम् = perplexed. तरलिय - तरलित = allured, enticed. पहल्ल = पहल्लिय = प्रचलित = moved, shaken. For हल्ल to move, to shake, to be unsteady, see st. 679. Compare Marathi हलणे. ओलि = आलि = पङक्ति = a line or swarm (of bees). For ओलि compare Marathi ओळ. See H. 1, 83. 81) अज्जा = प्रौढयुवतिः = an adult (grown up ) lady. See Vajja, Note on st. 308. The idea is that even in the absence of a bath and make-up and adornment, she was more fascinating, and confident about her sexual appeal than her cowives. हल्लप्फल d = enthusiasm, solicitude (औत्सुक्य). पसाहिरी =प्रसाधनशीला = given to (or in the habit of ) decorating or adorning. 82) जाल = छिद्र = etched hole. जालवलय = a reticulated bracelet. सोहंति = सोहंती = शोधयन्ती cleansing. The final ई in सोहंती is shortened for metre. किलंबकंटय = sharp point of a wooden splinter. न्हाण = स्नान :- post-menstruation bath. काहिसि = करिष्यसि fut. 2nd pers. sing.
