________________ (157) पुणरुत्तरायरसिय-पुनरुक्तरागरस (=आनन्द) प्रचुर =full of the frequent or repeated rapturous joy of love-making. हरंति = charm or ravish the mind. सब्भावरमिय =carnal enjoyment full of genuine feeling or love (सब्भाव सदभाव). जत्थ व तत्थ व जह व तह व = ( obtained by chance ) at any place or in any way. For व-वा, see H. 1, 67. 224) कह वि = कथमपि = with great difficulty or effort. मोइय=मोचित = श्लथीकृत = loosened, disengaged. दढमढबद्धगंठी = मुढबद्धदढगंठी = अज्ञबद्धदढग्रन्थिः = a tight knot tied up by an ignorant person. खुत्त मग्न = sunk, plunged, immersed. खुत्त seems to stand for खप्पिय, p.p.p. from खुप्प = मज्ज, see H. 4, 101. समुक्खय = समुक्खाय = समुत्खात = pulled out, extricated. For the shortening of war into a see H. 1, 67. According to B the stanza suggests विपरीतरत, inverted coitus. 225) पियाइ समयं = प्रियया समम् (-सह) = along with your sweet-heart (always present in your thoughts). वुज्झसि (pres. pass. 2nd pers. sing. from वह to carry) = you are carried or borne by me. See H. 4, 245 for change of a into a and H. 2, 26 and 89-90 for change of हय (in उहयसे) to ज्झ. अयाणय = अज्ञ = an ignorant person. बइल्ल. see st. 184. अंगाई मुयइ = droops, languishes, breaks down. Cf, st. 287. 226) अणुणयपसाइया = appeased or pacified by your entreaties. गणंती = counting. अपहत्त = अप्रभूत = अपर्याप्त = insufficient. Cf. st. 246. 227) = Vajja 318. सेयच्छलेण = under the guise of perspiration. अमायंत =not being contained ( in her body ). ओसरइ == अपसरति = flows away. तिवलि = the three folds of skin (on the abdomen). सोवाणपंति = सोपानपङक्ति = सोपानमार्ग = stair-way, stair - case, stepladder. The instr. sing. सोवाणपंतीए would be better than the plu. form सोवाणपंतीहि. Compare Kumārasambhava I, 39. 228) दिव्वायत्त = दैवायत्त = दवाधीन = depending on fate. कीरइ = क्रियते (pres. pass. 3rd pers. sing.) = can be done. See note on st. 221. एत्तियं = एतावत् or एतत = this much or this, see H. 2, 156, 157. किकिल्लिकङकेल्लि= the Asoka tree. The Asoka tree, according to poetic convention, does not bear any fruits, but has superbly beautiful leaves. 229) धयइ = washes away. See st. 139. मयकलंक = मृगकलङक = the dark spot or stain in the form of the deer on the surface of the moon. कवोलपडिय = कपोलपतित = fallen on, i.e. imaged in, her bright, glossy cheek. Cf. st. 125. अणवरयमुक्कजल = incessantly shed tears (जल = अश्रु). 230) अप्पणो गंधेण = by its fragrance. मालिया मालिता-व्याप्ता= pervaded. नोमालिया-नवमालिका = the jasmine plant.
