________________ छन्दोदर्शनम प्रतितिष्ठति || अत्र यत् अमुनोपक्रम्य अमुनैवोपसंहरति, यच्चेमममुष्य विशेषणं करोति, तदृषिर्तापयति-जीवमीश्वरादनन्यं तादात्म्यात्, पश्यति च ईश्वरस्येदं जगत् न जीवस्येति ॥ COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION This Savitā who is burning pervades all with all his might. It is Savità that has given birth to all. In Išvara, who creates all Jivas and the whole universe, everything exists. In beginning and concluding with 'that' and by a special reference to this' (soul), the Rshi reminds us that Jiva and Isvara are not different. They have identity. The Rshi sees that the whole universe is the creation of Isvara and not of Jiva. द्वितीया ऋक् । नमस्ते देव सवितर्नमस्ते विश्वचक्षुषे | नमो विश्वस्य रोचिषे नमस्तेऽस्तु विश्वायुषे ॥ १-२-२॥ पदपाठः- नमः । ते । देव । सवितः। नमः। ते । विश्वऽचक्षुषे | नर्भः । विश्वस्य । रोचिषे । नमः । ते । अस्तु । विश्वऽआयुषे । Salutations to you Oh! Lord Savita; to you who sees all and everything; to you who illumines all and everything; to you who is the lifel ayus ) of all and everything. (1-2-2) अन्वयभाष्यम् । हे देव ! सवितः! ते तुभ्यं नमः, विश्वचक्षुषे विश्वस्य नेत्राय ते नमः, विश्वस्य रोचिषे ज्योतिषे नमः, विश्वायुषे विश्वस्य प्राणाय ते नमः अस्तु इति । “मनोमयः प्राणशरीरो भारूप" (छां. उ. ३-१४-२) इति ब्राह्मणं चात्र भवति, मन्त्रे चक्षुः ब्राह्मणे मनश्च न करणविशेषाभिप्राये, अपि तु साक्षिसामान्यपरे, विश्वप्राणभूतस्य व्यापकज्योतिष: अनन्तरभूतः साक्षी परमात्मा इत्युक्तं भवति ॥ COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION "Manomayaḥ prāņa - śariro bhāràpah” (Chhă. Up. 3-14-2). This quotation from the Chhåndogya Upanishad is corroborative of the above mantra. ___The word 'chakshu' in the mantra, the word 'manah' in the Upanishad do not refer to the senses but to the Onlooker, who is the life (Pråpa ) of all and everything; who is all-pervading Light and who is not different from these. He is the Paramātmā, the indwelling On-looker or Witness.
