Chapter VIII Prakrit Verses In Kāvya-Prakasa
Mammata's Kavya-prakasal is a standard work on Sanskrit poetics. Its date lies between 1050 and 1100 A.D. “It sums up in itself all the activities that had been going on for centuries in the field of Poetics, while it becomes itself a fountain-head from which fresh streams of doctrine issue forth." It comprises as usual three parts, the Karikas, the Vrtti and the examples. He cites over 600 verses to illustrate his teachings. Out of these verses about 64 verses are in Prakrit :
1) (Tatra vacyasya (vyanjakatvam) yathā-)
(p. 28) माए घरोवअरणं अज्ज हु त्थि त्ति साहिअं तुमए। ता भण किं करणिज्ज एमेअ ण वासरो ठाइ ॥ (मातर्गहोपकरणमद्य खलु नास्तीति शिष्टं त्वया। तद् भण किं करणीयमेवमेव न वासरस्तिष्ठति ॥)

(p. 29) साहेती सहि सुहअ खणे खणे दूमिआसि मज्झ कए। सम्भाव-णेह-करणिज्ज-सरिस दाव विरइअं तुमए ॥ (शासती ( = कथयन्ती) सखि सुभग क्षणे क्षणे दूनासि मम कृते । सद्भाव-स्नेह-करणीय-सदृशकं तावद् विरचितं त्वया ॥)

उअ णिच्चल-णिप्फंदा/णिप्पंदा भिसिणी-पत्तमि रेहइ बलाआ। णिम्मल-मरगअ-भाअण-परिट्ठिआ संखसुत्ति व्व ॥ (पश्य निश्चल-निष्पन्दा बिसिनी-पत्रे राजते बलाका । निर्मल-मरकत-भाजन-परिष्ठिता शङ्खशुक्तिरिव ॥)
