________________ 17th Cent. of V. S., in his kavya Vidvatprabodha included in the Sangraha. Not knowing the principle that determines the meanings of these words, one might think that the ekakşarī or dyakşarī lexicons were possibly produced to help the poets who engaged themselves in composing poetry abounding in verbal jugglary and śleșas. But a limited number of meanings of a particular word suggests that there must be some principle governing the mennings of these one-lettered or two-lettered words. It is left for the scholars to find it out. I am extremely thankful to Pt. Dalsukhbhai Malvania, Director, L. D. Institute of Indology, Ahmedabad for his keen interest in my research work. It was at his suggestion only, that I took up the present text for critical edition. I crave the indulgence of readers for the misprints that have crept in, totwithstanding my best efforts to avoid them. L. D. Institute of Indology Ahmedabad-9 1-3-67 Bechardas J.
