"(e) The commencement of the Yuga (talkes place) at one and the same time, at the rising of the sun in the south, at midnight in the west, at the setting (of the sun) in the north, and at noon in the east.-(3) Because the same (commencement of the Yuga) is made by Surya, Indu, Palisa, Romaka,Vasishtha,Yavana, and others, therefore(there can be only) one Siddhanta%3 (i.e. no matter by whose name they may be called, all Siddhantas must be one and the same in respect of their fundamental principles); any other work is a mere patting together of words." And the remaining twelve references are :
(d) (i) मध्यगतिशं वीक्ष्य श्रीषेणार्यभटविष्णुचंद्रज्ञाः।
सदसि न भवंत्यभिमुखाः सिंहं दृष्टा यथा हरिणाः । 6 || Chapter i. " Seeing one who has learned the mean motion (from the Brahma-Siddhanta), those who know (only the works of) Brishêna, Aryabhata and Vishộuchandra, do not come before him) in an assembly; just as the deer, seeing a lion (cansiot stand before him)."
(0) मेपादितःप्रवृत्ता वार्यभटस्य स्फुटा युगस्यादौ। (ii) श्रीषेषस्य कुजायाः सूर्याद्या विष्णुचंद्रस्य ।। 46 ॥ (iii) पूरभ्रष्टाः स्पष्टाः श्रीषेणार्यभटविष्णचंद्रषु ।
यस्मात्कुजादयस्तेषु न विदुषामादरस्तस्मात् ।। 47 || Chapter ii. **(46) (AM) the apparent (planets in the work) of Aryabhata, Mars and others of Brighôna. and the sun and others of Vishộuchandra, are not (made to start from the beginning of Mêsha at the commencement of the Yuga. (47) Because the apparent Mars and others in the works of) Srishêna, Aryabliata, and Vishnuchandra have gone far astray, therefore the learned have no respect for them.
(iv) कृस्वापि दृष्टिकर्म श्रीषेणार्यभटाविष्णुचंद्रोक्तं।
प्रतिदिन मुदये ऽस्ते वा न भवति दृग्गणितयोरैक्यं ।। 13 ॥
भमुनिमृगव्याधानां Chapter s. “Although the drishţikarman, told by Srishëna and Aryabhata and Vishộuchandra, is calculated every day, there is no coincidence between the observation and calculation, either about the rising or setting of the nal:shatras, the Muni (Agastya, Canopus), or Mrigavyadha (Sirius).
(9) (स) पंचज्यया यतोऽर्कमहणं श्रीषेणविष्णुचंद्रकृतं।
आर्यभटोक्तान्यनयोरर्क ग्रहणदूषणानि ततः ।। 31 || Chapter xi. "Because Srishóna, and Vishộuchandra have calculated solar eclipses by means of the purchajyú (sines of five kinds), therefore the faults stated (by me) in connection with Aryabhata (are applicable) to both of them also.
(vi) श्रीषेणविष्णुचंद्रप्रद्युमार्यभटलाटसिंहानां ।
महणादिविसंवादात् प्रतिदिवसं सिद्धमकृतत्वं ।। 46 ॥
युक्त्यार्यभटोक्तानि प्रत्येकं दूषणानि योज्यानि । (vii) श्रीषेणप्रभृतीनां कानिचिदन्यानि वक्ष्यामि ।। 47 ॥
लाटात्सूर्यशशांको मध्याबिंदूचचंद्रपाती च । कुजबुधशीघ्रबृहस्पतिसितशीघ्रशनैश्चरान् मध्यान् ।। 48 ।। युगयातवर्षभगणान् वासिष्ठान विजयनंदिकृतपादान् ।
मंदोश्चपरिधिपातस्पष्टीकरणायमार्यभटात् ।। 49 ॥ (viii) श्रीषेणेन गृहीत्वा रनोचबरोमकः कृतः कंथा।
एतान्यव गृहीत्वा वासिष्ठो विष्णुचंद्रेण ।। 50॥ Chapter xi.
