________________ If the date of kumaril Bhutta may be taken to be fixed by the statements under consideration, be may be placed soing where about tho middle of the seventh, century. For we have already seen that.la. kpati knew and admired Bhavbhuti when he was young and regarded hiin as his teacher or lender If we place Yi1sovarma's reign between A. D. 675 and 710, Vuk pati would have lived we will say from d. D. 660 to 720. Bhavbhuti who was patronized by Yushovarina and was older than Vakpati would then be assigned to we will say from A. D. 620 to 685. In that case Kumaril Bhutta may be placed between, say A. D. 590 and 6,0. for to have been a teacher of Bhavbhuti Kurmaril must be placed enlier than his teacher orin about the middle of the seventh century assigning about forty years or some what more than one generation to cach before the tiine of Vaka pati. Thus. Kuremaril Bhutta A. D. 590 to 650, Sbankerachq. rya 1 610) to 660. Bhabhiti...............660 to 685................ . Vahpati .................. 660 to 720...... Yashavarma.reginen...675 710+ Lilitadytia. 695 to 730. I may observe that this dato agrecs with that assigned to Vrumil bhutt by Taranath in his histo" * ory of Indian. * f In putting down this date, it is not necessary to pay any regard to the Jain stato ments that Yashovarma was living in Sanvat 800 (A. D. 744 ( as I have already shown that those statements are not reliable 0 Sve further on ? P.P. Ac. Gunratnasuri M.S. Jun Gun Aaradhak Trust
