( ૮ ) સંખ્યાવાળા ગ્રન્થ વિછેદ થઈ ગયા, શું આ વાત કોઈ પણ બુદ્ધિમાન માન્ય કરી શકે ખરે? કદાપિ નહિ. તે તે કદાહીજ માન્ય કરે. હું ન ભૂલત હેઉં તે આવા ઉસૂત્રથી ભરપૂર ગ્રન્થને પ્રચાર કરવાને માટે જ પાછલા અંગ પ્રકીર્ણાદિ ગ્રન્થ છે દીધેલા જણાય છે. •
પાશ્ચાત્ય વિદ્વાને શું કહે છે? હવે દિગમ્બરના ગ્રન્થ કરતાં વેતામ્બરના ગ્રન્થ પ્રાચીન છે, આ વાતને અમે (શ્વેતામ્બરે) જ કહીએ છીએ-સિદ્ધ કરીએ છીએ, એટલું જ નહિ, પરંતુ પાશ્ચાત્ય વિદ્વાનોએ પણ તે વાતને, ચેકસ શેખેળ કરી, દઢ કરી છે. આ પ્રમાણે કહીને છુટી ન જતાં એક બે નમૂના પણ અહિં રજુ કરૂં છું
