से कई नगरों में अब भी कुछ न कुछ जैन स्मारक पाये जाते हैं । पर अब तक जितने प्राप्त हुए हैं वे प्रान्त की प्राचीनता व जैन धर्म से घनिष्टता को देखते हुए कुछ भी नहीं है। हमें पूर्ण प्राशा है कि यदि विधिपूर्वक खोज की जाय तो असं. ख्यात जैन स्मारक मिल सकते हैं जिनसे जैन इतिहास का मुख उज्ज्वल हो सकता है व जैन पुराणों की प्रमाणिकता सिद्ध हो सकती है। कौशाम्बी के ही विषय में सर विन्सेन्ट स्मिथ का मत देखिये । वे अपने एक लेख में लिखते हैं:
“I feel certain that the remains at Kogam in the Allahabad district will prove to be Jain for the most part and not Buddhist as Cunningham supposed. The village undoubtedly represents the Kausambi of the Jains and the site where Jian temples exist is still, a place of pilgrimage for the votaries of Mohavira. I have shown good reason for believing that the Buddhist Kausambdi was a different place (J. R A. S. July 1898). I commend the study of the antiquities at Kosam to the special attention of the Jain commuinty" ___ अर्थात् 'मुझे पूर्ण विश्वास है कि अलाहाबाद जिले के कोसम नामक ग्राम के खण्डहर इत्यादि बहुतायत से जैन स्मारक सिद्ध होंगे न कि बौद्ध जैसा कि कनिंघम ने
