अन्त में जो अन्वेषक व लेखक प्राचीन स्मारकों के परिचय व विवरण लिखें उनके लिये उपयोगी सर विंसेन्ट स्मिथ के कुछ वाक्य उद्धत कर मैं इस भारी भूमिका को समाप्त करूंगा:
"Much may be done by careful registration and description of the Jain monuments above ground which of course should be studied in connection with the Jain scriptures and the notices recorded by the Chinese pilgrims and other writers. In order to obtain satisfactory results the persons who undertake such registration and survey, should make intelligent use of existing maps, should clearly describe the topographical surroundings, should record accurate measurements and should make free use of photography. Such a survey even without the help of excavation, should throw much light upon the history of Jainism and specially on the story of the decline of the religion in wide regions where it once had crowds of adherents."
