३२६. से भिक्खू वा २ अहावेगइयाई सद्दाइं सुणेइ, तं जहा-जूहियट्ठाणाणि वा हयजूहियट्ठाणाणि वा गयजूहियट्ठाणाणि वा अण्णयराइं वा तहप्पगाराइं सद्दाई णो अभिसंधारेज्जा गमणाए।
३२६. साधु-साध्वी के कानों में कई प्रकार के शब्द पड़ते हैं, जैसे कि वर-वधू युगल आदि के मिलने के स्थानों (विवाह-मण्डपों) में या जहाँ वर-वधू वरण किया जाता है ऐसे स्थानों में, घोड़ों के समूह जहाँ रहते हों, हाथियों के समूह जहाँ रहते हों तथा इसी प्रकार के अन्य कुतूहल एवं मनोरंजक स्थानों में। ऐसे श्रव्य-गेयादि शब्द सुनने की उत्सुकता से जाने का संकल्प न करे।
326. A bhikshu or bhikshuni hears various sounds such as those produced in places where brides and bride-grooms come together or marry (marriage pavilions), where herds of horses and elephants are gathered or other such places of attraction and entertainment. But he should never resolve to go to some place to hear these sounds.
३२७. से भिक्खू वा २ जाव सुणेइ, तं जहा-अक्खाइयट्ठाणाणि वा माणुम्माणियट्ठाणाणि वा महयाहय-नह-गीव-वाइय-तंति-तलताल-तुडिय-पडुप्पवाइयट्ठाणाणि वा अण्णयराइं वा तहप्पगाराई सद्दाइं णो अभिसंधारेज्जा गमणाए।
३२७. कथा करने के स्थानों में, तोल-माप करने के स्थानों में या घुड़-दौड़, कुश्ती प्रतियोगिता आदि के स्थानों में, महोत्सव-स्थलों में या जहाँ बड़े-बड़े नृत्य, नाट्य, गीत, वाद्य, तंत्री, तल (काँसी का वाद्य), ताल, त्रुटित वादिंत्र, ढोल बजाने के आयोजन होते हैं, ऐसे स्थानों में तथा इसी प्रकार के अन्य मनोरंजन स्थानों में होने वाले शब्द सुनने के लिए जाने का साधु-साध्वी मन में संकल्प नहीं करे।
327. A bhikshu or bhikshuni hears various sounds such as those produced in places of discourses (story telling), weighing and measuring, horse racing, wrestling; festivals where important recitals of dances dramas, music and instruments like tantri, tal, taal, trutit, drums are conducted or other such places
