FOURTH GREAT VOW AND ITS BHAAVANAS
395. Bhante ! After this I accept the fourth great vow. I abstain completely from sexual intercourse. I will not indulge in sexual intercourse with any being-divine, human or animal; neither will I induce others to do so, or approve of others doing so. I will observe this great vow through three means (mind, speech and body) and three methods (doing, inducing and approving). Bhante! I critically review any such act of sexual intercourse that I have done in the past, denounce it (considering soul as my witness), censure it (considering my guru as my witness) and earnestly desist from indulging in it (and expel this sin from my soul).
३९६. तस्सिमाओ पंच भावणाओ भवंति -
( १ ) तत्थिमा पढमा भावणा - णो णिग्गंथे अभिक्खणं २ इत्थीणं कहं कहित्तए सिया । केवली बूया - निग्गंथे णं अभिक्खणं २ इत्थीणं कहं कहेमाणे संतिभेया संतिविभंगा संतिकेवलिपण्णत्ताओ धम्माओ भंसेज्जा । णो निग्गंथे अभिक्खणं २ इत्थीणं कहं कत्ति सियति पढमा भावणा ।
३९६. उस चतुर्थ महाव्रत की ये पाँच भावनाएँ हैं
(१) उन पाँचों भावनाओं में पहली भावना यह है - निर्ग्रन्थ बार-बार स्त्रियों की कामजनक कथा न कहे । केवली भगवान कहते हैं - बार-बार स्त्रियों की कथा कहने वाला निर्ग्रन्थ शान्तिरूप चारित्र का और शान्तिरूप ब्रह्मचर्य का भंग (चित्त भ्रम ) करने वाला होता है तथा शान्तिरूप केवल-रूपित धर्म से भ्रष्ट भी हो जाता है। अतः निर्ग्रन्थ को बार-बार स्त्रियों की कथा नहीं करनी चाहिए। यह प्रथम भावना है।
396. The five bhaavanas (attitudes) of that fourth vow are as follows—
(1) The first bhauvana is-A nirgranth should not indulge in erotic talks about women time and again. The Kevali says-A
