३२८. से भिक्खू वा २ जाव सुणेइ, तं जहा-कलहाणि वा डिंबाणि वा डमराणि वा दोरज्जाणि वा वेरज्जाणि वा विरुद्धरज्जाणि वा अण्णयराइं वा तहप्पगाराइं सद्दाइं णो अभिसंधारेज्जा गमणाए।
३२८. जहाँ परस्पर कलह होते हों, शत्रु-सेना का भय हो, राष्ट्र का भीतरी या बाहरी विप्लव हो, दो राज्यों के परस्पर विरोधी स्थान हों, वैर के स्थान हों, विरोधी राजाओं के राज्य हों तथा इसी प्रकार के अन्य विरोधी वातावरण के वार्तालाप को सुनने की दृष्टि से जाने का साधु-साध्वी मन में संकल्प नहीं करे।
328. A bhikshu or bhikshuni hears various sounds such as those produced in places where people are quarrelling, army of enemy state is stationed, there is internal or external uprising, there is a dispute between two states or antagonists, there is enemy territory or other such places where angry exchanges are taking place. But he should never resolve to go to some place to hear these sounds.
३२९. से भिक्खू वा २ जाव सद्दाइं सुणेइ, खुड्डियं दारियं परिभुत्तं मंडियालंकियं निवुज्झमाणिं पेहाए, एगपुरिसं वा वहाए णीणिज्जमाणं पेहाए, अण्णयराई वा
अभिसंधारेज्ज गमणाए। __ ३२९. इसी प्रकार जहाँ वस्त्राभूषणों से मण्डित और अलंकृत तथा बहुत-से लोगों से घिरी हुई किसी छोटी बालिका को घोड़े आदि पर बिठाकर ले जाया जा रहा हो अथवा किसी अपराधी व्यक्ति को वध के लिए वध-स्थान पर ले जाया जा रहा हो तथा अन्य किसी ऐसे व्यक्ति की शोभा यात्रा निकाली जा रही हो, उस समय होने वाले (जय, धिक्कार, तथा मानापमानसूचक नारों आदि) शब्दों को सुनने की उत्सुकता से जाने का साधु-साध्वी मन में संकल्प न करे
329. A bhikshu or bhikshuni hears various sounds such as those produced in places where a well dressed young girl adorned with ornaments and riding a horse is taken out in a procession; a criminal is being taken for execution or other such person is taken out in procession (and hails or insults are shouted).
