भगवान महावीर का दीक्षा महोत्सव-जुलूस भगवान महावीर का दीक्षा महोत्सव करने के लिए देवराज शक्र ने सहस्र पुरुषवाहिनी चन्द्रप्रभा नामक दिव्य शिविका का निर्माण किया। उसके मध्य में श्रेष्ठ रत्नों से निर्मित पादपीठयुक्त एक महामूल्यवान सिंहासन था। श्रेष्ठ उत्तम वस्त्र और अति मूल्यवान आभूषण धारण किये राजकुमार वर्धमान उस शिविका के मध्य आसीन हुए। उनके मस्तक पर देदीप्यमान मुकुट था, गले में दिव्य सुगंधित माला सुशोभित थी। शिविका सर्वप्रथम हर्ष उल्लास से भरे मनुष्यों ने उठाई। फिर क्रमशः पूर्व दिशा की ओर से वैमानिक देव, दक्षिण दिशा की ओर से असुरदेव, पश्चिम दिशा की ओर से गरुड़देव तथा उत्तर दिशा की ओर से नागकुमार देव उठकर चलने लगे। हजारों देव-देवियाँ, मनुष्य, स्त्री-पुरुष, बालकों का समूह विविध प्रकार के वाद्य बजाते, नाचते, गाते, जय-जयकार करते हुए ज्ञातखंड वन की ओर चले।

INITIATION CEREMONY : THE PROCESSION Shakra, the king of gods, created a divine Sahasravahini (carried by one thousand persons) palanquin named Chandraprabha for the initiation ceremony of Bhagavan Mahavir. In the middle of the palanquin rested a very expensive throne and foot-rest embellished with the finest quality of gems. Wearing finest quality of clothes and splendid ornaments prince Vardhaman sat on the throne. A radiant crown and divine fragrant garlands rested on his head and neck respectively. Shakrendra and Ishanendra stood on his flanks and swung divine white chamars (whisks). First of all human beings lifted the palanquin with happiness and joy. After that it was carried by gods holding its eastern end, demons holding the southern end, Garuds holding the western end and Naagakumar gods holding the northern end. Thousands of gods and goddesses, men and women, and children accompanied it on its way to Jnatakhand garden playing various musical instruments, dancing, singing and hailing.
