Suśruta is credited with the authorship of the Suśruta-samhita, an ancient and well-known Sanskrit work on Indian medicine. The probable age of Suśruta, according to Winternitz | History of Indian Literature (German), III. p, 547) is the early centuries of the Christian era, not far removed from Caraka (second century A.C.).
