ओ देवाधिदेव ! मैं अल्प-बोधवाला सम्पूर्ण-बोध वाले विद्वानों के लिए हँसी पात्र हूँ। केवल तेरी भक्ति ही मुझे मुखरित करती है। जैसे वसंत ऋतु में कोकिला मधुर स्वर से गुंजन करती है, उसमें आम के पेड़ पर झूमती हुई नयी मंजरी ही एकमात्र कारण है, वैसे हे प्रभु, तेरी भक्ति से प्रेरित होकर मैं स्तुति करता हूँ।
પ્રભુ ! વસંત ઋતુમાં કોયલના મધુર ટહુકાર માટે મુખ્ય કારણ રૂપ આંબાના હોરના સમૂહની જેમ તારી સ્તુતિ કરવામાં મને તો તારી ભક્તિ જ વાચાળ બનાવે છે. ભલે પછી અલ્પશ્રત એવો હું પંડિતોને હાંસીપાત્ર બનું.
Oh Lord! I know my limitations and I cannot vie with highly knowledgeable people. I have not even heard as much as them, My humble creation is just not to be compared with their great verses, prayers and poetry. I would ask all of them :
"See, have created all these prayers deliberately? No, not at all. My small heart is overflowing with the love of God; therefore some words and stanzas have fallen here and there from it! what can I do for that?"
Just look at that cuckoo. Just ask her if she knew the rules of music. Just ask her whether she knew about the metres and Rāgas : Tala & Laya (Rhythm)?
She will reply that she is not singing in an orchestra. Nor she is willing to get auditioned for music.
"See! Springs have come. That mango tree smiles. In fact, it is blossoming. The atmosphere is full of fragrance and very very tempting.
The blossoming mango, full of fragrance, tempts me to sing. If you want to listen, do so; and if you like, you may also sing.
You name it a poem or a pun as you like. Who cares?"
Similarly, Acharya Manatungasoori states that whether critics consider this Bhaktamara Stotra as a beautiful poem or a mere pun, he is indifferent.
