Besides, there are a few plaster casts from important national mounments, su as the Sarnath, Bharhut and Amaravati Stupas. Chinese Gallery This contains a fine collection of porcclain, lacquer-work, bronzes ctc., fro China. Of special interest, are a small gilt bronze Buddha of the wei Dynasty (early 6 century A.D.), a unique Sung-tze Kuan-yin bronze of the Sui Dynasty (end of the 6 century A.D.), a funcrary terracotta sct of the Tang period from Honan-fu, (the on set of its kind in India) and a stone Bodhisattva of the carly Tang Dynasty. A ve expressive figure of Miny-Kaun-yin and an enameled inccnsc burner presented ! Emperor Chien-lung of the Mongal monastery, are other important cxhibits. Also there is an important document "Patent of Nobility" issued in 1761 A. I Emperor Chien-lung, written in Chinese and Manchu characters on silk brocade. Of ti paintings, we have several hanging pictures in black ink on silk, mainly in the Mandari: style, a fcw Buddhist and Taoist religious paintings, and a large sct of pictures repr senting ghost stories. There is a large collection of decorative picces in Jade, Steatitc ctc., bron: copies of old ritual vessels, original mctal-work, like mirrors, incense burners, dishe bowls ctc., in cloisonne enamel, small late ivory objects and silks, brocades. сmbro derics, dress borders ctc. Room of Muslim Civilization This room cxhibits textiles, bronzes, pottery, glazedtiles, ivory, lacquer wor paintings etc. from Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, North Africa and Spain. Some of th textiles are very beautiful. A few carly pottery fragments have been excavated at Fust in Egypt. There are cncaustic tiles and lacquer boxes of two best Safavi periods. gold embroidered Turkish tomb cover is very interesting, and so is a small size mode showing wall decoration in the Darbar Hall of the Alcazar of Sevilla. There is or bcautiful specimen of copper Juster Spanish pottery, There is besides, a fine collection of Persian and Indo-Persian illustrated mani scripts and miniature paintings of 15th-17th centuries, especially the Shah-Namal Usuf-u-Zulaikha etc. Occidental Gallery The collection of European oil paintings in the Baroda Museum is one of th best in the East and contains rare and unique originals of the old masters. It was bui up by the late Maharaja Sayajirao III Gackwad as part of his extensive scheme fo giving his subjects the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the great art of th western civilization.
