________________ Shri Mahavir Jain Aradhana Kendra www.kobatirth.org Acharya Shri Kailassagarsuri Gyanmandir Extension Activities : Muscums offer the unique opportunity in true sense of education by developing imagination and sensitivity of the learner by the display of original objects. The museum is providing regular activities such as slide shows, guide lectures, gallery talks etc. for school children. The aforesaid activities are well planned and are conducted in very efficient manner to develop the sense of appreciation of the objects. During gallery talk cimphasis is always given to correct terminology and precise expression. This museum also organises various temporary exhibitions, which are educative and informative for the school as well as university students. Activity sheets for the school children will be ready within few months. After the museum visit, the activity sheets will be distributed among the children. They will be asked to do certain exercises regarding which they have already observed inside the museum. The museum is looking forward to extend its communication to the public through guide books, leaflets, picture books, picture post cards, calendars, brochures, transparencies, catalogue, hand lists monographs, activity sheets etc. Conclusion : The museum of Archacology contains very important artifacts and great works of art of Harappan and Kshatrap period discovered from various sites of Gujarat which no student of archacology can afford to ignore. The collection of Harappan ceramics is of great importance for drawing parallels and differences between the ceramics of corresponding ages in and out of the Indian sub-continent. The display of materials like Roman Amphorac and related illustration in the carly-historic showcase magnifies the viewer's understanding of mercantile activities of this period. The Devnimori remains are amazing for the visitor for its monumental as well as sculptural art. By coming to know the articles used by the people of the past closely, the students will become better acquainted with the past cultures instead of remaining clusive of perception. The museum is in the process of providing all possible facilities such as access to the store-collection, supply of photographs and slides to students, artists, scholars etc. We are trying to "develop computer based documentation system for the collection. A visit to this museum affords a rich and useful experience to any visitor irrespective of his/her age and educational background. References: 1.
