uave, soft-spoken, unostentatious and one who wears his scholarship lightly - this aptly sums up the personality of Dr. Kumarpal Desai. I have known him intimately for over a decade and working with him on some projects has been a pleasant experience. He puts you at ease with his affable manners and carries on conversation with effortless ease.
Dr. Desai's has been a multidimensional personality - a teacher, a creative writer, a critic, a journalist, an educationist, a thinker, a scholar of Jainism, a sports afficianado and above all a humanist. He has authored about 140 books which cover a wide range of subjects and bear an imprint of his multi-hued personality. His prolific pen has produced an abundant and rich harvest of books ranging from children's literature to biographies, stories, translations, criticism, spiritualism and sports.
A globe trotter, he travels extensively and enlightens the lay and the cognoscenti, the young and the old alike by his talks, lectures and discourses which encompass a wide spectrum of topics as do his columns which bristle with light and serious matters.
