विवेचन
आर्या महाकाली ने लघुसिंहनिष्क्रीड़ित तप की आगधना की थी । प्रस्तुत सूत्र में इसे खुड्डाग सीहनिक्कीलियं कहा है, जिसका अर्थ है-जिस प्रकार गमन करता हुआ सिंह अपने अतिक्रान्त मार्ग को पीछे मुड़कर फिर देखता है और फिर आगे चलता है । इसे सिंहावलोकन भी कहते हैं । उसी प्रकार जिस तप में अतिक्रमण किए हुए उपवास के दिनों को फिर से सेवन करके आगे बढ़ा जाए ।
सिंहनिष्क्रीड़ित तप दो प्रकार का होता है, एक लघुसिंहनिष्क्रीड़ित और दूसरा महासिंहनिष्क्रीड़ित तप। प्रस्तुत अध्ययन में वर्णित आर्या महाकाली ने लघुसिंहनिष्क्रीड़ित तप की आराधना की । अगले अध्ययन में वर्णित कृष्णा आर्या ने महासिंहनिष्क्रीड़ित तप किया है ।

Elucidation
Arya Mahakali practised laght-singha-niskridita pcnance, which is mentioned in present sūtra as khuddāga Siha nikkiliyain. It denotes that as the lion, while walking, visualises the path he has passed by turning back and then moves forward-that is called as retrospection. In the same way, during this penance the practiser moving forward jumps in due order, then returns and practises that, c.g. a penancer observing five days fast jumps on seven days' fast then he returns and practises six days' fast.
Singha-niskridita penance is of two kinds-1. Laghu singha-niskridita penance and 2. Maha-singha niskridita penance. Described in present chapter Āryā Mahākāli propiliated Laghu Singha niskridita penance. As described in next chapter Aryā Krsņā practised Maha Singha-niskridita penance.
