serpent. Also, the overtly sensuous man cannot get the divine pleasures in his next-life (in heaven, etc.). Fie on the wretch who desires for that which is censured by the saints! It is right; which despicable activity is not possible by the man whose mind is besieged by the great demons of lust and anger? He engages mindlessly in all sorts of deplorable activities.
श्वो यस्याजनि यः स एव दिवसो ह्यस्तस्य सम्पद्यते स्थैर्यं नाम न कस्यचिज्जगदिदं कालानिलोन्मूलितम् । भ्रातर्धान्तिमपास्य पश्यसि तरां प्रत्यक्षमक्ष्णोर्न किं
येनात्रैव मुहुर्मुहुर्बहुतरं बद्धस्पृहो भ्राम्यसि ॥५२॥ अर्थ - जो दिन जिस वस्तु के लिये कल (आगामी दिन) था वह उसके लिये कल (बीता हुआ दिन) हो जाता है। यहाँ कोई भी वस्तु स्थिर नहीं है, यह सब संसार कालरूप वायु से परिवर्तित किया जाने वाला है। हे भ्रात! क्या तुम भ्रम को छोड़कर आखों से प्रत्यक्ष नहीं । देखते हो, जिससे कि इन नश्वर बाह्य वस्तुओं के विषय में ही बार-बार इच्छा करके बहुत काल से परिभ्रमण करते हो?
The day which is seen by a man as 'tomorrow', becomes 'yesterday' for him. Nothing is permanent here; this world is being blown incessantly by the wind of 'time' (kāla). O brother! Why don't you give up illusion, and see what is visible directly to your eyes? Like a slave of desires, you repeatedly long for external, transient objects and have consequently been wandering in this world from a very long time.
