15. SHRI JAMNAGAR TIRTHA (SHRI ADISHVAR BHAGAVAN)
The Jamnagar tirtha is renowned as a place of pilgrimage for the Jainas with its 14 majestic Jain temples. The city has Jain temples which give a glimpse of the ancient peak of Shatrunjaya. Jam Raval raised this city in the year V.S. 1596 on the 7th day of the bright half of Shravan, and named it as Navanagar. Jains have contributed a lot towards the development of this city. Actually, the history of the Jain temples starts with the birth of this city. Six out of the fourteen Jina temples are 300 to 350 years old. while the rest were constructed some fifty or more years back. The Jina temple situated in the heart of the city is known as the temple of Sheth. The foundation-laying ceremony of this temple was performed by Shri Anand Sheth during the reign of Jam Sataji in V.S. 1633 and Adinath Bhagavan was ceremoniously installed as the MULANAYAKA at the auspicious hands of Shri Vijayadevasuri. Just nearby stands the vast Jaina Chaitya got constructed by Shri Vardhaman Shah and Padmasinh Sheth. Shri Shantinath Bhagavan is installed here. Fifty two Shrines are constructed all around. Here, in the temple known as choriwala, a fine stone-pandal with an altar is constructed near the shrine of Shri Neminath Bhagavan. From the viewpoint of vastness and beautiful structure, this Jina temple stands unique in art and architecture. A total number of fourteen temples add to the beauty of the city and religious fervour of pilgrims.
૧૫. શ્રી જામનગર તીર્થ (શ્રીઆદીશ્વર ભગવાન). ચૌદ ભવ્ય જિનાલયોથી પ્રસિદ્ધ એવું જામનગર તીર્થ જૈનોના યાત્રાધામ તરીકે જાણીતું છે. શત્રુંજયની પ્રાચીન ટૂંકનો ખ્યાલ આપે તેવાં ભવ્ય અને અનોખાં જિનાલયો આ નગરમાં આવેલાં છે. વિ. સં. ૧૯૫૬ના શ્રાવણ સુદ ૭ના દિવસે જામ રાવળે આ નગરની સ્થાપના કરી. તેને નવાનગર એવું નામ આપ્યું. આ નગરની સ્થાપના અને વિકાસમાં જૈનોનો ફાળો ઘણો મહત્વનો બની રહ્યો. એક રીતે તો નગરની સ્થાપના સાથે જ જિનાલયોના ઇતિહાસનો આરંભ થયો છે. ચૌદમાંથી છ જિનાલયો તો ૩૦૦-૩૫૦ વર્ષ પહેલાંનો છે, જયારે બાકીનાં પચાસેક વર્ષ પહેલાંના છે. નગરના મધ્ય ભાગમાં આવેલું જિનાલય શેઠના મંદિરના નામે જાણીતું છે. આ જિનાલયનું ખાતમુહૂર્ત વિ. સં. ૧૬૩૩માં જામ સતાજીના રાજયકાળમાં શ્રી આણંદ શેઠે કર્યું હતું. વિ. સં. ૧૬ ૫૧માં શ્રી વિજયદેવસૂરિજીના સુહસ્તે આદિનાથ ભગવાનની મૂળનાયક તરીકે પ્રતિષ્ઠા કરવામાં આવી હતી. આ જિનાલયની નજીકમાં જ શ્રીવર્ધમાન શાહ અને શ્રીપદમસિંહ શેઠે બનાવેલું વિશાળ જિન ચૈત્ય છે. શ્રી શાંતિનાથ ભગવાનની આમાં પ્રતિષ્ઠા કરવામાં આવી છે, અને આજુબાજુ બાવન દેરીઓ રચવામાં આવી છે. અહીંના ચોરીવાળા મંદિર તરીકે જાણીતા જિનમંદિરમાં શ્રીનેમિનાથ ભગવાનની દેરી પાસે પથ્થરની ચોરીની સુંદર રચના કરવામાં આવી છે. આ જિનાલયની શ્રીનેમિનાથ ભગવાનની દેરી પાસે પથ્થરની ચોરીની સુંદર રચના હોવાથી તેનું આવું નામાભિધાન થયું છે. વિશાળતા અને કમનીય બાંધણીની દષ્ટિએ આ જિનાલય જૈન શિલ્પકળામાં આગવું સ્થાન મેળવે છે. આ ઉપરાંત અન્ય જિનાલયો મળીને આજે ચૌદ જેટલાં મંદિરો નગરની શોભામાં અને યાત્રાળુઓની ભાવનામાં અભિવૃદ્ધિ કરે છે.
