49. SHRI GANDHARA TIRTHA (SHRI AMIJHARA PARSHVANATH BHAGAVAN)
This tirtha is situated on the sea-shore near the Gandhara village at a distance of 26 kms. from Broach; in the jungle in the midst of beautiful and impressive natural surroundings. Here we have an idol of MULANAYAKA Shri Parshvanath Bhagavan; white in complexion, in Padmasana posture. There was a time when Gandhara was renowned as a port. There were many Jina temples and quite a good population of Shravakas. According to the Inscription on the idol installed here, the idol was ceremoniously insalled at the hands of Jagadguru Shri Hiravijayasuriji in the seventeenth century of the Vikrama era; he was present here for CHATURMASA along with his vast group of pupils. The Moghul emperor Akbar invited him to Fattehapur Sikri and he accepted the invitation on the advice of the Sangha and its consent, considering the possibility of spread of Dharma. In the beginning of the 18th century, pirates from Khambhat looted this place and burnt it. To-day, such ruins are visible round the place. In the ancient days there were two temples over here-One of MULANAYAKA Shri Mahavir Swami and the other of Shri Amijhara Shri Parshvanath Bhagavan. Records available show that the former was of wood and raised in V.S. 1500. When the temple grew old and was in ruins, Harakunvar Shethani got it repaired and renovated in V.S. 1810. Thereafter, when there were cracks in the walls and saltishness was visible, Shri Sangha got it repaired again. At a distance of 19 kms. from here there is the village Dahej where many of the idols were taken from Gandhar. Prominent amongst these is the 30 cms. high image of Shri Hiravijayasuriji.
૪૯. શ્રી ગંધાર તીર્થ (શ્રીઅમીઝરા પાર્શ્વનાથ ભગવાન)
ભરૂચથી ૨૬ કિ.મી. દૂર સમુદ્રના કિનારે ગંધાર ગામની પાસે આ શ્રી ગંધાર તીર્થ આવેલું છે. સાગરકાંઠે નાનકડા ગામની પાસે જંગલમાં આવેલા આ સ્થળનું દશ્ય બહુ સુંદર અને મનમોહક છે. અહીં મૂળનાયક શ્રી પાર્શ્વનાથ ભગવાનની શ્વેત વર્ણની પદમાસનસ્થ પ્રતિમા છે. આ પ્રતિમા ખૂબ સુંદર અને પ્રભાવશાળી છે. એક કાળે બંધારની બંદર તરીકે સારી એવી નામના હતી. જિનમંદિરી અને શ્રાવકોની વસ્તી પણ ઘણી હતી. અહીંની સ્થાપિત પ્રતિમા પરના એક લેખ અનુસાર વિ.સં. ૧૬૬૪ મહા સુદ દસમના દિવસે શ્રી વિજયસેનસૂરિજીના હાથે આની પ્રતિષ્ઠા થઇ હતી. વિક્રમની ૧૭મી સદીમાં જગદગુરુ શ્રી હીરવિજયસુરીજી પોનાના વિશાળ શિષ્યસમુદાય સાથે અહીં ચાતુર્માસમાં બિરાજમાન હતા. મોગલ બાદશાહ અકબરે તેમને ફતેહપુર સિક્રી આવવા નિમંત્રણ મોકલ્યું ત્યારે શ્રી સંઘની સલાહ અને અનુમતિ લઇને તેમ જ ધર્મભાવની સંભાવના જોઇને એમણે સ્વીકાર કર્યો. ૧૮મા સૈકાની શરૂઆતમાં ચાંચિયાઓએઆ શહેર પર લૂંટ ચલાવીને એને બાળી નાંખ્યું. આજે આવા ભગ્ન અવશેષો આસપાસ જોવા મળે છે. અહીં પ્રાચીન બે જિનમંદિરો હતાં.એક મૂળનાયક શ્રીમહાવીર સ્વામી અને બીજું શ્રીઅમીઝરા પાર્શ્વનાથ ભગવાનનું. પહેલું લાકડાનું મંદિર હતુંઅને તે વિ.સં. ૧૫૦૦માં બનાવ્યાનો ઉલ્લેખ મળે છે. આ મંદિર જર્જા થતાં વિ.સં. ૧૮૧૦માં હરકુંવર શેઠાણીએ એનો જીર્ણોદ્વાર કર્યો. તે પછીવિ.સં. ૧૯૨૫માં ભીંતોમાં તિરાડ પડવાથી અને લુણો લાગવાથી શ્રી સંધે એનું કરી સમારકામ કરાવ્યું અહીંથી ૧૯ કિ.મી. દૂર આવેલા દહેજ ગામમાં ગંધારથી લઇ જવામાં આવેલી અનેક પ્રતિમાઓમાં શ્રી હીરવિજયસૂરિજીની ૩૦ સે.મી. ઊંચી પ્રાચીન પ્રતિમાનો પણ સમાવેશ થાય છે.
