Relinquishing the habit of following the world, of pandering to the body and of sticking to scripture, accomplish the destruction of super-imposition which characterises you.
lokānuvartanam: following the ways of the world; vide in the Sadhanapāñcaka: janakṛpānaiṣṭhuryamutsṛjyatām. Be indifferent to the sympathies and the antipathies of men.
dehānuvartanam: Vide in the Sadhanapañcaka: dehe ahammatistyajyatām: give up the sense of the 'I' in the body.
śāstrānuvartanam tyaktvā: giving up the reading etc., of books other than those which will be useful to the attainment of liberation. Or, in accordance with the instruction: drdhataram karma āsu samtyajyatām: (Sadhanapañcaka). Let all karmas be firmly and completely renounced; śāstra may mean books relating to Karmaśāstra.
Giving up these three, destroy the super-imposition on the
ätman.

This has been elaborated at length by Sri Vidyāraṇyasvāmin in the section dealing with Vasanākṣaya in his work entitled 'Jivanmukti Viveka'. He says: ko lokamārādhayitum samarthaḥ? Who is expert in
