asariram sadā santamimam brahmavidam kvacit i priyāpriye na sprśatas tathaiva ca śubhāśubhe in
Neither the pleasant nor the unpleasant ever affect the Brahmavit who remains unattached to the body, nor do the good or the evil.
sthūlādisambandhavato'bhimāninaḥ
sukham ca duḥkham ca śubhāśubhe ca 1 vidhvastabandhasya sadātmano muneh , kutah subham gặpgasubham phalam bà ||
Joy and sorrow, good and evil, pertain to one who is connected with the gross body etc., and is attached to it. To the muni who has broken the bonds and has realised the ātman, how will there arise the fruits of good or of evil?
tamasā grastavadbhānād agrasto’pi ravir janaiḥ 1 grasta ityucyate bhrāntyā hyajñātvā vastulakşaņam 11
The sun is said by people to be swallowed, its brightness being hidden by darkness without knowing the truth and due to delusion.
tadvad dehādibandhebhyo vimuktam brahmavittamam paśyanti dehivan mudhāḥ śarīrābhāsadarśanāt 11
Similarly, merely seeing the appearance that is the body, fools see the eminent Brahmavit, who is free from the bonds of the body etc., as one possessing the body.
