14. J. This MS. belongs to Jain Sahitya Shodha Sansthan, Mahaveer Bhavan, Jaipur. It measures 33.5 x 20.5 cms. It has 1 to 202 (3) folios, (where there is a gap) followed by the colophon of chapter 23, and again folios 1 to 79 (according to numbering of pages but actual folios 87.) Last page of 79 is blank.
The paper is of the indiginous thick quality. Two folios stand uncut together. Each folio as a rule, is written on both the sides and numbered continuously. The mode of numbering is different after the folio 202. There are some mistakes in numbers. Some pages have blank gaps. The last page of the first duplicate folio has the written matter on it. Each folio has three marginal lines as well as the pageedge-lines in red ink. The written portion in the middle of the page measures 24.5 x 13 cms. Each page has 12 lines and each line about 40 letters.
The MS. has a new appearance, and is perhaps copied from an older one. The letters of which, though now and then misread appear to have been well imitated from the Adarśa.
The major portion is written in black ink, but Dandas, single or double, now and then numbers of verses, opening and concluding colophons, terms like Vyakhya, Śloka etc. the decoration etc. are written in red ink. On the whole it is a good readable MS. and with a little acquiantance with the earlier phases of Nagari, one can easily conjecture the correct reading. There are marginal additions here and there. So also interlinear erasures and corrections. The MS. opens on the last page of the duplicate first folio. The second alone is numbered as 1. These numbers are put on the top of the left corner and the bottom of the right corner, some 4 to 5 cms. away from the top and the bottom of the page.
The MS. opens with Bhale between two Dandas and then नमः श्रीवीतरागाय ॥ aferafts etc. Parallel to the first line in the margin Jñänärpava is written in red ink followed by Ti in black, just above the page No. 1 and so it is further noted in black ink as Jñanarpava Teeka and on some pages as Jñänärpava Satīk on all the folios. After folio No. 202 (3) there is a big gap in the MS. in which is missed the printed text from 1223 to 1517 alongwith their commentary.
The Sanskrit commentary included in this edition is based on this MS. which was so kindly loaned out to me through the kind efforts of Pt. Chainsukhadas Shastri and Dr. Kasturachand Kasliwala. In this connection, I would also mention the Pood Offices of Shri Chhotelalaji Jain, Calcutta.
