કહેવતસંગ્રહ
A drowning man catches at straws.
Submit where all opposition is vain, ૧૨૭. સુતે સાપ જગાડે નહીં. ૧૦
ચાલતા બળદને આર મારવી નહીં. સુતે સાપ જગાડ નહીં. રૂઝાયો ઘા ઉખેળ નહીં. બે પાપડ ઉખેડવો નહીં. સાજી ગાં–આકડો મારવો નહીં, સુતેલો ઝગડો જગાડવો નહીં. દાઢ્યાં મુડદાં ઊખેળવાં નહીં. વેચાતે જીઓ વહેરવો નહીં. સુતે સિંહ જગાડવો નહીં. ચાલતા બળદને આર મારવી નહીં. Wake not sleeping snake.
Do not seek quarrel, which there is an opportunity to escape,
Do not rip up old sores.
Let the sleeping dog lie. ૧૨૮ ચડે દરબાર કે જાય ઘરબાર. ૮
ચડે દરબાર કે જાય ઘરબાર. દિવાનીમાં જવું ને દિવાના થવું. સરકાર દરબાર ચડે, તેને આટો ને આવરદા જોઈએ. જેને ઘેર મોટી દેલત, તેના ભાગીઆ કારટ. સરકાર દરબારના અવળા પગ. કરવો દાવો ને થવું બા. ત્રણ ખુણાની ટોપી, આમે ફરે ને તેને ફરે. દેહ-સામ દામ ને ભેદથી, સમાધાન જો થાય,
ધરાધણું કે ઘરધણું, ન કરો કલેશ ઉપાય. ૧૮૭ Law licks up all. Fools and obstinate persons enrich the lawyers.
Keep aloof from quarrels, be neither a party nor a witness. ૧૨૯ ઝાઝી સુયાણીએ વેતર વંઠે, ૯
ઝાઝી સુયાણીએ વેતર વંઠે. - ઝાઝે મહેડે વાત તે બગાડ્યા વગર રહે નહીં. ૧ આર લાકડીમાં બેસેલો સુઇયો.
