eight thousand manuscript books of Jain Literature out of which two thousand and five hundred are on palm leaves and the rest on paper. It has also got good collection of rare coins, stamps and antique sacred paintings, This is the only institution quite unique of this type in India. This Library won the approbation of Mahatama Gandhi, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya and many other great personalities of India when they happened to visit this part of the country. It has also attracted scholars from Germany and America who specially come to this place in connection with research works. It is managed by Shree Deo Kumar Jain Trust.
2. Shree Jain Bala Vishram :--She only institution for advancing female education in India among the Jains was founded by Shree Chanda Bai Jain in 1921 and she has been codducting it with great success. It living monument of Jains for the purpose of female-education. Jain girls and also girls of other religions from every corner of India come to read here. Girls are instructed in subjects fit for making them good wives, good mothers as well as good citizens. It teaches religion and indian ideal of womanhood. From here girls appear at the examinations of high sanskrit stages like nyaytirth, shastri parikha, sahitya ratan, matriculation, tntermediate and B. A. Provision for teaching subjects for those examinations have been amply made, It has got a big compound with three buildings, two hostels for girls and many classes decorated in a very artistic way. The whole institution is in the lap of nature. Due to this institution to-day rarely an illiterate woman is found in Jain community.
In this way Jains in Shahabad have been making valuable contributions to Jain religion and are always alive to their religious duties. For the sake of preaching Jainism, 'Mahabir Jayanti' (Shrut Panchami Parwa', 'Rakshabandhan Parwa', Mahabir Nirwan Diwash is celeberted by them on a large scale. Thousands of people come to listen to the aspects of Jainism on the eve of Mahabir Jayanti. There are many charitable dispensaries managed by Jains, two Dharamsalas, Jain Schools and Jain College. In this way Jainism has got a great foot-hold in Shahabad.
