Five kinds of asrava mentioned in Jaina works, Asoka followed the Jain rather than the Buddhist view of asrava. D.R. BHANDAKAR (Asoka, Pp. 129-30) finds a further borrowing of Asoka from Jainism in his use in the Edicts described; Asoka tried to include the sāra of Brahmanism, Buddhism and Jainism in his own Dharma.
