In Gurjaradeśa around Bhillamala, Jainism acquired great influence and the Jaina sadhrs were active in pursuit of literature in the 8th century. Udyotana's Dharmakatha embodies the cordinal sins through a succession of lives. Jaina Dharmakatha was losing, or had lost, touch with real life.
