This paper presents a critical study and an objective reinterpretation of some. of the crucial gathas of the Gommatasara in which the term Gommata is used with various shades of meaning. It is obvious from the discussion that Gommata was a name of Camundaraya who got carved the famous statue of Bahubali at Sravana Belgola. Jain Education International 2764 A. N.
