A scrutinising study of Āsādhara's Sanskrit Commentary on the Iş topadeśa of Püiyapada leads us to the conclusion that Asadhara is not the first to write a commentary on that work and that he incorporated in his commentary some earlier gloss consisting of short prefatory statements possibly composed by Pujyapāda himself to make the context clear. 2367 H.
