હાય તે ઉપર જણાવેલું છે. જો કાષ્ઠ શ્રાવક્ર ગૃહસ્થના રચેલ ગ્રંથ મળી આવે તેા કદાશ તેની ભાષા ગુજરાતીને વધારે મળતી હાઇ શકે. જેમ જેમ સમય જતે ગયે, તેમ તેમ જૈન ગ્રંથકારા પ્રાકૃત છેાડતા ગયા છે, તે તેા પ્રેમાનંદના વખતમાં તે તે પછીના સમયમાં રચાએલી *વિતાજ કહી આપે છે.
ગુજરાતી જૈન સાહિત્ય ત્રણું છે તે પ્રગટ થયે ગુજરાતી ભાષા ઉપર ઘણું અજવાળુ પડશે એમા શક નથી. જૈન ગ્રંથો ટીકાસ બહાર પડવાથી ગુજરાતી સાહિત્યને ઘણા લાભ થવાના સભવ છે.

જેઓ એમ કહે છે કે જૈન કવિતા રસ ભરી છે એમ તેા કહેવાયજ નહીં. તેઓએ જૈન ગ્રંથાના સારા અભ્યાસ કર્યાં નહીં હશે, એમ લાગે છે. શીલવતી રાસાના વિવેચનમાં જણાવેલું છે કે “ આ કથાએ ઘણી રસભરી અને મનેારજક હોય છે. કવિની વનશૈલી તથા સુટિત અલકાર રસ જમાવવાની છટા પણ સારી છે. ’

આ વિવેચનમાં પક્ષાપક્ષીની કે ખેંચાણુતાની જરૂર નથી. સત્ય શું છે તે સપ્રમાણ ધવાના હેતુ છે. જો પુરાવા ઉપરથી સાખીત થાય કે નરસિંહ મહેતા કરતાં પણ પૂના ગુજરાતી લેખક જૈન છે' તેા મહેતાને અપાએલું “ આદિ કવિ ” નું પદ ભલે કાઇ જૈન મહાશયને પ્રાપ્ત થાય, તેથી કોઇને દિલગીર થવાનુ કારણ નથીઃ માત્ર તૅન કવિતા જૂની ગુજરાતીમાં હોવી જોઇએ.

It has now been difinitely ascertained that Jain Sadhus played no small part about fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. in contributing to the development of Gujarati. The silent but significant work acceruplished under the stimulus provided by the (Gujarati Literary) Conference has revealed a valuable store of old Gujarati in Jain blandars. The Jains have not been slow to realise the importance of these bhandars and of late some old & valuable works have been published under the auspices of Sheth Devchand Lallubhai Jain Pustakodhar Fund and similar other Trusts.
