Krtikarya, Jayanama, Siddhartha, Dhritsena, Buddhila and other teachers, who was aequanted with the true nature of the eight fold great omen and forefold in Ujjayani a calamity lasting for a period of twelve years, the entire Sangha (or the community) set out from the North to the South and reached by degrees a country with many hundreds of villages and filled with happy people."
“According to the tradition, Chandragupta Maurya who was Emperor abolicated his throne and accompanied the Srutakevalin. Two inscriptions [Nos. 17 and 18] on the Chandragiri Hill and two others found near Srirangapattana mention Bhadrabahu and Chandragupta as two ascetics. That the two came together to Sravanabelgola is confirmed by a Kannada work "Munivamsabhyudaya" by a poet called Cidanandakavi who wrote his work in 1680 A.D."
ये शिलालेख उत्तर भारत से युगप्रधान श्रुतकेवली भद्रबाहु एवं चन्द्रगुप्त दोनों के निग्रंथ मुनिरुप में "कलवप्पु" (अर्थात् श्रवणबेलगोळा) आने की और भद्रबाहु के "चंद्रगिरि" पर्वतिका पर समाधिमरणपूर्वक देहत्याग करने की घटनाओं की पुष्टि करते हैं । अद्यावधि चंद्रगिरिस्थित भद्रबाहु की गुफा भी इस तथ्य की साक्षी देती है। कन्नड़ के चिदानंद कवि भी इन दोनों के श्रवणबेलगोळाआगमन की विशेष पुष्टि करते हैं। ___मतभेद होते हुए भी अधिकांश संशोधक इस निष्कर्ष पर आते हैं कि भद्रबाहु के पूर्वकाल तक
जैन परम्परा अविभक्त थी, उनके पश्चात् ही श्वेतांबर से दिगम्बर विभक्त हुए । देखें एक विदेशी विद्वान् का कथन .....

Bangalore University); 'Compendium of Jainism': PI 48-49-50. __ इस काल के महावीर परवर्ती युगप्रधान आचार्य भद्रबाहु के ऐसे महान प्रभाव से अब इसी कर्नाटक की भूमि पर वर्तमानकालीन युगप्रधान भद्रमुनि सहजानंदधनजी का क्या प्रभाव और प्रदान रहा यह अब देखेंगे विशेषकर दिग. श्वे. दोनों परंपराओं के समन्वय की भी दिशा में ।
