" So saying, Bharata Chakravarti went to his royal town. Marichi, on account of the praise and salutation by Bharata Chakravarti, became conceited about his noble lineage. Enraptured with joy, striking his bands on his thighs, and dancing merrily, Marichi said: प्रथमो वासुदेवोऽहं, मूकायां चक्रवर्त्यहम् । चरमस्तीर्थराजोऽहं ममाऽहो ! उत्तम कुलम् ॥ १ ॥ आद्योऽहं वासुदेवानां पिता मे चक्रवर्तिनाम् । पितामहो जिनेद्राणां ममाऽहो ! उत्तम कुलम् ॥ २ ॥ I will be the first Vāsudeva, I will be a Chakravarti in Mūkā Nagari and I will become the last Tirthankara. O! my family is noble, I will be the firit Vā-udeva, my father is the first Chakravarti and my grand father is the first Tirthankara, 0 ! my family is noblo. Once. Maricbi was afflicted with some disease. Other Sadhus knowing that he was not duly observing vows, did not attend on him and 90 getting wearied Marichi thought within himself, O! these Sadhus are destitue of politeness, cruel, exerting themselves for their own interests, and departing from popular opinion. I am acquainted with them, I am loving them and am initiated by the same Guru and I am polite. Far from attending upon me; they do not even look at me.' So thinking, he began to find faults with them. Generally people do not look to their own faults and the virtuous qualities of other persons, and hence, it is but natural For Private And Personal Use Only
