________________ FOREWARD It gives me immense pleasure to introduce to the world of orientalists this valuable reference book, entitled Lesya-kosa, compiled by Mr. Mobao Lal Banthia and his assistant Mr. Srichand Choraria who is a student at our Institute. In the Ajivika, the Buddhist and the Brahmanical thought also, ideas similar to the Jaina concept of lesya are found recorded. The lesya qua matter is the 'colour-matter' accompanying the various gross and subtle physical attachments of the soul. This is the dravya-lesya. The corresponding state of the soul of which the 1.
