13 points of investigation in addition to those 14 employed in Satkhandāgama. This discussion occurs also in Dravyapramāņānugama-prakarana of Satkhandagama (Book VII pp. 244 ff.). Şatkhandāgama (Book VII pp. 244 ff.) itself offers the explanation of the numerical terms like samkhyāta whereas it is not Prajñāpanā itself but its commentary that offers this explanation. This discussion of the relative numerical strength of living beings occurs in Satkhandägama at other places also. Book XIV, Sū. 568 (p. 465) of Satkhandāgama gives an account of the relative numerical strength of living beings even from the standpoints of dravyapramāna and pradeśapramåņa. Prajñāpanā too in its Atthikāyadvāra sū. 270 gives an account of the relative numerical strength of the living beings from two standpoints, viz. dravyārthika and pradeśārthika. This account in Prajñāpanā is different from that occurring in Şatkhandagama in that the former account considers the relative numerical strength of saddravya whereas the latter that of Satkāya. The Mahādandaka occurring in Prajñāpanā (sū. 334) and that occurring in Satkhandāgama (Book VII pp. 575 ff.) deserves comparison. Both the Mahādandakas discuss the topic of relative numerical strength of all the classes of living beings.
