consciousness, self-consciousness and the knowledge of the Yogins. His description of the nature of reason (hetu) mainly follows the Nyāya views. Various faults in a debate (jāti and nigrahasthāna ) are also described according to the Nyāya tradition. The author criticises the three or four types of debate (vāda, jalpa and vitaņdā) described in the Nyāya Sūtra. He classifies the debate in three (vyākhyā, gosthi and vivāda ) or four (tāttvika, prātibha, niyatārtha and parārthana) types. He devotes the concluding paragraphs to various methods of counting and measurements, and includes them in Karana-Pramāņa.
Though smaller in size than the Visvakattvaprakāša, this book is more important, as it brings to light a new approach to the problems of Jaina epistemology. We hope that other * works of Bhāvasena will also be published in near future.
