કુદરતનો કાનુન કહો, કર્મનો સિદ્ધાંત કહો, આત્મવિકાસનો ક્રમ કહો કે મોક્ષમાર્ગ કહો દરેક સીડી પર એક પછી બીજું એમ પગથીયા ચઢવાનો ક્રમ તે ધર્મ અને ધર્મની વિધિનું જ પ્રતિપાદન કરે છે. (ધર્મ અને ધર્મની વિધિને) સાંભળનાર: * શ્રુતજ્ઞાન મતિજ્ઞાનપૂર્વક થતું હોવા છતાં તેમાં લાભ-નુકસાન, હેય-ઉપાદેય, કાર્ય-અનાર્ય, હિત-અહિતનો બોધ એ બધો શ્રુતજ્ઞાનનો વિષય છે. શ્રુતકેવળી શબ્દ પણ તેજ અર્થનું પ્રતિપાદન કરે છે તીર્થંકર પ્રભુના સમવસરણ, ધર્મસભામાં બેસી કલાકો સુધી ગણધર ભગવાન અને બીજા અનેક ઋદ્ધિધારી મુનિ મહારાજો, આર્શિકાઓ, શ્રાવક-શ્રાવિકાઓ અને ગૃહસ્થો તેમજ સંજ્ઞી પંચેન્દ્રિય તિર્યંચો પણ એકચિત્તથી ભગવાનની દેશના સાંભળે છે. તેમાં ગણધરપ્રભુ જેમની યાદશક્તિ અચિંતનીય છે તે બધું યાદ રાખી શાસ્ત્રોમાં ઉતારે છે. તે શ્રુતજ્ઞાન છે. આ શાસ્ત્રો જાતે વાંચવા કરતાં ગુરૂગમથી તેમનો ઉપદેશ શ્રવણ કરવાથી વધારે અને સ્પષ્ટપણે બુદ્ધિગમ્ય થાય છે.
શ્રુતિ સિ શ્રાવઃ જે સાંભળે તેને શ્રાવક કહ્યો. સાંભળવામાં ધીરજ, કદાગ્રહનો અભાવ, સુધારાનો અવકાશ. અને ગ્રહણબુદ્ધિયુક્ત મન (receptive mind)..
