उववाइय' सुत्तं सू० ७
21 उसने अपने गोत्र में उत्पन्न प्रतिस्पर्खियों-विरोधियों का विनाश कर दिया था। उनकी “समृद्धि को छिन लिया था। उनका मान भंग कर दिया था। और उन्हें देश से निकाल दिया था। अतएव उसका कोई भी सगोत्र-विरोधी शेष नहीं रहा था। उसी प्रकार उसने अपने गोत्र-भिन्न विरोधियों-शत्रुओं को भी विनष्ट कर दिया था। उनका धन छिन लिया था। उनके मान को भंग कर दिया था और उन्हें अपने देश से निर्वासित कर दिया था और उसने अपने प्रभाव से उन्हें जीत लिया था, पराजित कर दिया था। इसलिये वह राजा दुर्भिक्ष, महामारी के भय से विशेषरुपेण मुक्त-उपद्रव-रहित, क्षेममय, कल्याणमय, सुभिक्षु-युक्त, राजकुमार आदि कृत विघ्न-रहित राज्य का प्रशासन करता हुआ रहता था ॥६॥ .
He had a vast army. He had reduced to subjugation all the rulers beyond his frontiers. He had liquidated all the rival claimants to the throne inside the family, or reduced them to abject penury, or deprived them of their royal status, or dismissed them.into exile, so that there was none in the line who could ever challenge . his authority. He did the same to his adversaries outside the royal household liquidated them, reduced them to penury, deprived them of their status or sent them into exile so that no one would ever be able to raise his head. Thus he lived on ruling over a kingdom free from famine, disease and fear, a kingdom which enjoyed peace and tranquility, where food was available for the asking, and. which was free from chaos. 6
