Bh is incomplete, missing the last Sataka. The text is accompanied by a Sanskrit commentary, called Chekoktivicāraltla, which is attributed to a certain Bhuvanapala. It may be noted that the text quoted in the commentary (Bho) is occasionally slightly different from the text proper (Bha). MS R is complete, having altogether 710 Gathās (but Gathā 14 occurs a second time, namely as 386). In the first place there is evidence which suggests that R derives from the same source as Bh (the possibility that R derives from Bh itself, or vice versa, can a priori be ruled out as each MS has innovations of its own; for Bh, see, for instance, samappanti in 61, and for R, see 4.1 b.). This appears from the fact that they have in common certain innovations against all the other MSS (see 4.2 b.). It also follows
