________________ No. 7.] DAYYAMDINNE PLATES OF VINAYADITYA-SATYASRAYA; SAKA 614. 29 occasion. They were routed by Vinayāditya probably in A. D. 678-79, when he was nominated to the throne as indicated by his Jejuri plates and the Togarchêdu grant. Of the geographical places mentioned in the record Talayakheḍa-grāma has been identified by the late Rao Bahadur Krishna Sastri with Thairkeḍda on the north bank of the river. Ter (Thairna ). 1 Dr. Fleet has identified Nalavādi-vishaya with portions of the Ananta pur and Kurnool Districts. Ulchal which was situated in this vishaya is probably to be identified with Ulachala in the Kurnool taluk of the Kurnool district. If this is correct, Fleet's identification of the Nalavaḍi-vishaya will be confirmed. Recently two inscriptions of the Nala dynasty have been obtained, viz., the Rithapur plates of Bhavattavarman and the Poḍagadh inscription of his son Skandavarman, which locate their kingdom somewhere in the Central Provinces on the side of Yeotmal, and Poḍāgadh in the Jeypore Agency. It is too premature to establish any connection between the Nalaväḍi-vishaya and the Nala country since they are far removed from each other. The present record contains the second known reference to Nalavägi-vishaya, the first being found in the Kurnool plates of Vikramāditya I. TEXT. Second Plate; Second Side.
