(b) By putting together two nouns of which the first would have taken an oblique case if used separately e. g. faeM ( faÙÙ मरणं ) death by taking poison', सुहधम्मे ( सुहाए धम्मे ) ' virtuous actions for happiness', चोरभयं (चोराश्रो भयं ) fear from a thief', पुण्यफलं ( पुराणस्स फलं ) ‘result of good deeds' गिहवासे ( हिंसि a) residence at homex"
(c) By putting together an adjective and a noun, the latter being qualified by the former e g. नीलुप्पलं ( नीलं उप्पलं ) 'blue lotus', सुभकम्माई ( सुभाई कम्माई ) 'good deeds.’1
An adjective compound may be formed:
( a ) By putting together two adjectives eg . सेयर ( सेए रत्ते ) white and red.'2
(b) By putting together a noun which would have taken an oblique case if used separately, and an adjective e. g. f g (f गए ) ‘gone home' संजम संजुत्त (संजमणं संजुत्ते ' possessed of restraint,' रुक्खपडिए ( रुक्खाओ पडिए) fallen from a tree', गायकुसले (गाणंसि p) 'skilled in singing.'3
(c) By putting together two nouns, or an adjective and a noun, the relation between which would have been expressed by an oblique case of the relative pronoun if used seprately e. g. जियकोहे ( जिए कोहे जे ) ' that has overcome wrath ' पंचिदिए ( da gitarę aea ) who has five sense-organs.'4

An adverb compound is formed by adding an adverbial preposition to a noun eg अणुगंगं ' along the Ganges', श्रणुपुवि 'in due order'.5 Such compounds are rarely met with.
