पातालम् [पतत्यस्मिन्नधर्मेण पत्-आल; ot. Un. 1. 114] | 1 The last of the seven regions or worlds under the earth said to be peopled by Nāgas; the seven regions are: अतल, बितल, सुतल, रसातल, तलातल, महातल and पाताल. -2 The lower regions or world in general; मा मेति व्याहरत्येव तस्मिन् पातालमभ्यगात् R.15.84; 1.80%; पातालान विमोचितो बत बली नीतो न मृत्युः क्षयम् Subhas. -3 An excavation, a hole. -4 Submarine fire. -8(In astrol.)
