the same Bhandara and bearing No. 6872 has dakkhevenań which is obviously a scribal corruption of dukkho vanam.
15. The 7th gāthā on p. 249 of our edition contains the reading so amateņa visam gejjham (inadvertently it is wrongly printed as soamattena which we have corrected in the Suddhipatraka as so amatena). In its place they accept soamattena visam gejjham; (see Adhyayana 41, gāthā 8; in Pt. Manoharamuniji's edition this gāthā is 9th). The reading accepted by us is yielded by all the four manuscripts utilised by us. This reading fits well in the context.
16. The 8th gāthā on p. 249 of our edition contains the reading ājīvattham tavo jo tu tappate viviham bahum. In its place they accept ajīvattham tavo mottum tappate viviham bahum. (see Adhyayana 41, gāthā 9). The reading accepted by us is yielded by all the four manuscripts utilised by us. This reading fits well in the context.
Here we would like to draw the attention of readers to the fact that sometimes the anustup metre consists of six metrical lines. Accordingly, three verses, viz. 3rd, 5th and 7th of Adhyayana 41 are having six metrical lines. But Dr. Schubring regarded the 3rd and the 5th verses as having tour metrical lines. Hence in his edition the number of verses exceeds by one. Of course, he regarded the 7th verse (in his edition the 8th verse) as consisting of six metrical lines. Being ignorant of this style, Pt. Manoharamuniji regarded all these three verses as consisting of four metrical lines. Hence he has to wrongly declare that the second half of the 13th verse has been lost to us.
17. The 11th gāthā on p. 252 of our edition contains the reading jam na genhati vå välam (in place of vã välam, vācālaṁ has been printed; but we have corrected it as vā vālam in the Suddhipatraka). In its place they accept jam naṁ genhati vā vālam; (see Adhyayana 45, gāthā 11). Though the correct and authentic reading contained in all the four manuscripts was available to Dr. Schubring, it has not been accepted by him.
18. The 28th gāthā on p. 254 of our edition contains the reading tanhato va saram rammań. In its place they accept naṇhāto va saram rammam; (see Adhyayana 45, găthā 28.) The reading tanhato ( tanhatto = trsnärtah) is correct and fits well in the context. To write for a, or a fort is the common mistake scribes commit. All the three manuscripts belonging to a Bhandara in Patan yield the reading tanhato suggestive of the correct reading tanhatto; here the scribe has written तो for तो.
All the three manuscripts belonging to a Bhandāra in Patan and utilised by Pt. Manoharamuniji yield, at all these 18 places, readings which are with some rare and minor exception-identical with
