INTRODUCTION
Pentad-Arhats, Siddhas, Ācāryas, Upadhyayas and Sadhus. Gāthās 7-74 contain a speech of Atimuktaka Muni, addressed to Nārada Rși. The speech extensively explains the name 'Pundarikagiri' given to Satrumjayagiri and relates about its holiness and venerableness. Gāthās 75-85 contain information about the initiation of Nārada Rși etc. as also about their attainment of omniscience and emancipation. Gāthās 86-102 sing the glory of Pundarikagiri. Gāthās 103-112 point out the fruits of Knowledge (jñana) and love for living beings (jivadaya). Gāthās 113-115 mention the fruits of charity done on Satruńjayagiri. The 116th gathā describes the fruit of copying or getting copied the present Prakirnaka.
19. Joisakarandagam painnayam: This tract is composed by Śrī Pādaliptācārya. According to Ac. Malayagiri, the author of a vịtti on this Prakırnaka, Pädaliptācārya is the author of a vștti on the Jyotiskarndakaprakīrņaka. But Muni Sri Punyavijayaji emphatically states in a note, with corroborative evidences, that Padaliptācārya must be the author of the Jyotişkarandakaprakırnaka, (See Jñānāñjali, pp. 25-26). Following Muni Sri Punyavijayaji's note we have mentioned here Pādaliptācārya as the author of the Jyotişkarandaka. This Prakirnaka consists of 405 gāthās. It contains 23 sections styled as prābhịtas. They are as follows: 1. kālapramāna (period of time), 2. māna (measurement), 3. adhikamāsanispatti (arriving at the additional month), 4. omaratta-dinaksaya (missing days in a month), 5-6. parvasamäpti and tithisamāpti (completion of parva and tithi i.e. lunar day), 7. naksatraparimāna (magnitude of stars), 8. candra-sūryaparimāņa (magnitude of the moon and the sun), 9. nakşatra-candra-sūryagati (movements of the stars, the moon and the sun), 10. naksatrayoga (conjunction of stars), 11. mandalavibhāga (divisions of circles formed by movements), 12. ayana (course or path of movement), 13. Sūrya-candra-āvrtti (revolutions of the sun and the moon), 14. mandalamuhurtagati (circular movement during 48 minutes), 15. stuparimaņa (length of seasons), 16. visuvatdinarātrisamănată (equal lengths of equinoctial day and night), 17. vyatipāta (calamity or total deviation), 18. tāpakşetra (field of influence), 19. diva. savşddhihāni (missing and surplus days), 20-21. amavasya-pārņimă (the new moon day and the full moon day), 22. pranastaparva and 23. paurusiparimāņa. . 20. Titthogālīpainnayam: We have not come across any mention of the name of the author of this Tirthodgälīprakīrṇaka. But the Vyavahārasūtrabhāsya refers to this Prakirņakal. This proves its
