imagined some work entitled 'Gativyåkarana'; see his edition p. 189 This is quite wrong.
4. The first foot of the eleventh gāthā on p. 252 of our edition contains the reading jam hutásam vivajjeti. Dr. Schubring's edition too accepts this reading (but here we find je in place of jam). Neglecting this proper and authentic reading yielded by old manuscripts and following the Sanskrit commentary printed in Dr. Schubring's edition, Pt. Manoharamuniji has accepted in its place the reading jam hamtā jam vivajjeti and justified it; see his edition p. 278.
We recommend readers to read Introductions to Dr. Schubring's and Pt. Manoharamuniji's editions in order to know about the Rşibhāṣitasūtra.
9. Diva-sågarapannattisamgahanīgāhão: I request scholars to decide as to whether the Divasagarapannatti mentioned in the Kälikasūtra division presented by the Nandisūtra and the Pākṣikasūtra is identical with the present Prakīrņaka. A Cūrni and the two Vịttis on the Nandisūtra do not describe this Prakirņaka whereas the Päksikasūtravrtti describes it by stating that the Dvipasāgaraprajñapti gives an account of continents and oceans. In the present Prakärnaka there does occur description of continents and oceans. It consists of 225 gāthās. The information regarding continents etc. is as follows: It describes the Mānuşottara mountain (gā. 1-18), oceans viz. Nalinodaga etc. (gā. 19-24), Nandiśvara continent (gā. 25), Añjana mountains and Jina temples thereon (gā. 26-47), Dadhimukha mountains and Jina temples thereon (gā. 48-51), puskarinīs (lotus-pools) on Añjana mountains (gā. 52-57), Ratikara mountains and capital cities of gods and goddesses of Śakra and Iśāna (gā. 58-70), Kundala continent (gā. 71), Kundala mountain (gā. 72-75), sixteen peaks of Kundala mountain (gā. 76-83), capital cities of Lokapālas of Sakra and fśāna, situated on Kundala mountain (gā. 84-97), capital cities of the prime-queens of Saudharmeśāna (gā. 98-101), capital cities of Trāyastrimsaka gods and their prime-queens, situated on Kundala mountain (gā. 102-109), Kundala ocean (gā. 110), Rucaka continent (gā. 111), Rucaka mountain (gā. 112-116), peaks of Rucaka mountain (gā. 117-126), Diśākumāris and their dwelling places (gā. 127-142), Diśāgajendras (gā. 143-148), Ratikara mountains, Utpäda mountains and capital cities of Saudharma, iśāna and Sāmānika gods (ga. 149-155), presiding gods of continents viz.
