Sub: JAINA BIBLIOGRAPHY 'Jaina Bibliography, a monument of colossal scholarship is the fruit of lifetime's strenuous labour and selfless dedication to the cause of Jaina studies by its author, Shree Chhote Lal Jain.
It is a rare collection of detailed information and result of painstaking research in various aspects of Jainism. It aims to facilitate and deepen the study on Jainology.
No study of Indian philosophy is complete without the understanding and knowledge of Jaina thought. Jaina scholars and saints have rendered valuable contribution to various branches of knowledge-literature, poetics, art, philosophy, religion, archaeology, geography, sculpture etc. Much of it still lies unexplored.
The seekers of knowledge on Jainology will find 'Jain Bibliography an invaluable reference book. The learned author has not left any possible aspect of Jainistic studies and principles untouched. Material has been collected from all possible sources-encyclopaedias, dictionaries, gazettes, census reports, temple records, history and chronology, geography and travels, religion, biography, philosophy and sociology, language and literature. There are innumerable references yet unexplored and hidden treasures stored in the form of manuscripts, tamrapatras, inscription on stone-pillars etc. in ancient Jain temples and Jain mathas scattered all over the country. The work done in prakrit, sanskrit, ardhmagadhi, kannad and other Indian and foreign languages have constantly been referred to.
It is a precious gem worth keeping in every library of a college and University for there is no single reference book, available so far in the world of knowledge which encompasses such a vide domain on Jainistic studies as this bibliography does. It is a boon for the scholars, researchers and pursuers of Jaina thought.
The Bibliography consists of three volumes of which two (I & II) have already been published. Volume III which contains the index is under preparation.
Volume I contains 1 to 1044 pages, Volume Il contains 1045 to 1918 pages, size crown octavo.
Huge cost is involved in its publication. But in order to provide it to each library, its library edition is made available only for Rs. 600/- for one set of 2 volumes.
